Tribo Triathlon Suit

A performance apparel design project created for the Filo-Aussie Triathlon Community Group in Melbourne. The objective was to develop a minimalist yet culturally meaningful triathlon suit that reflects both athletic performance and Filipino heritage. The concept integrated subtle Alibata (Baybayin) script elements alongside dynamic, symmetrical colour compositions to create a clean yet impactful race-day identity.

The Concept & Approach

The design direction focused on modern minimalism, ensuring the suit remained sleek, aerodynamic, and competition-ready. Traditional Alibata characters were thoughtfully incorporated as graphic accents symbolising identity, strength, and cultural pride without overpowering the garment’s functionality. Balanced, colourful symmetrical shapes were introduced to add movement and energy, visually echoing the rhythm and endurance of triathlon sports (swim, bike, run). The final composition achieved harmony between heritage symbolism and contemporary athletic aesthetics.
